Who owns the photographs.

A shoot produces something valuable, and three parties have an interest in it: the creator who made it, the customer who paid for it, and LumiQ which showed it. This is exactly where each one stands.

3. What the customer gets

When you have paid in full for a booking and the work has been delivered, the creator grants you a licence that is:

  • Perpetual — it does not expire.
  • Worldwide — no territory limits.
  • Royalty-free and fully paid — nothing further is ever owed for using it.
  • Irrevocable — the creator cannot take it back later.
  • Commercial — you may use it to advertise, sell and promote, including paid advertising.
  • Editable — you may crop, retouch, colour, caption and cut it.
  • Sub-licensable — you may pass it to your agency, your publisher or your platform.

In practice this means the work is yours to use however you want, forever, at no further cost. The two things it does not include: you cannot resell the files themselves as stock, and you cannot claim to be the author. If your situation genuinely needs the copyright transferred — some brand and agency contracts do — agree it with the creator in writing before the shoot and add a commercial usage line to the booking.

4. What the creator may still do with it

A creator may show work from your booking in their LumiQ portfolio and reels, and in their own portfolio elsewhere, unless you tell them not to.

Tell them not to and they must not. Email hello@lumiqapp.com if a creator has published something from your booking that you want taken down, and we will remove it from LumiQ.

Some shoots are private by their nature — anything in a private home, involving children, or under a confidentiality agreement. For those a creator must ask you first, rather than assume.

5. What LumiQ may use

LumiQ gets a narrow licence, and only over content a creator has deliberately published: reels, and portfolio items on a public profile.

  • We may display, distribute, reformat and promote that content on LumiQ and in LumiQ’s own marketing, with attribution to the creator.
  • The licence lasts while the content is published, and for a reasonable period afterwards for material already in circulation.
  • We never use a private delivered gallery for marketing. Not with a customer’s permission implied, not in aggregate, not as a case study.
  • We do not sell content to anyone, and we do not license it to third parties for their own advertising.
  • We do not use anyone’s photographs or video to train machine-learning models, and we do not permit others to scrape the platform to do so.

6. People in the pictures

Copyright and likeness are different things. Owning a photograph does not give anyone the right to use a recognisable person in an advertisement without their permission, and that is true in Nigeria and in several US states regardless of who holds the copyright.

  • Customers: everyone you bring to a shoot should know they are being photographed. For children, the adult booking consents for them.
  • Creators: before publishing a client’s shoot as a reel or portfolio piece, get the permission of the client and of anyone recognisable in it. You confirm you have it when you publish.
  • Anyone: if you appear in something on LumiQ and want it taken down, email safety@lumiqapp.com. We do not require you to prove copyright to ask — being in it is enough for us to look.

8. Reporting anything else

Content that is not a copyright problem but is still wrong — abusive, sexual, someone else’s work passed off, a person who did not consent — goes through the report button on the content itself, or to safety@lumiqapp.com. The Community and Safety Guidelines explain what we remove and what happens next.

9. The LumiQ brand

The LumiQ name, logo, wordmark, the design of the apps and everything we wrote belong to LumiQ. You may not use them as your own, put them on merchandise, or imply LumiQ endorses you.

Creators may say they work on LumiQ, and use the phrase "available on LumiQ" on their own channels. That is encouraged. Email hello@lumiqapp.com if you want the logo files.
